Last night was the Aldrich Undercover benefit. They asked all the participating artists to make a unique, non-editioned object for the benefit. I used it as an opportunity to explore possible output options for upcoming work, and as a place to debut a new image.
The finished print:
Untitled (L.E.S) 2008, Palladium print. 3.5 x 4.5″ image size, 9 x 12″ paper, unique.

The image:

Technical details:
Digital negative imaged on 4 x 5″ Fuji 100 Acros B&W Negative film at 16K / 3590 pixels per inch. Contact printed on Magnani Pescia paper with a hand mixed and coated palladium emulsion.
This was the first time I’ve been in the darkroom (outside of teaching) in a while. I quickly remembered how much I enjoy it, and how much I miss it.
To whomever now owns this print, I hope you enjoy owning it as much as I enjoyed making it.
Supposedly the number of layers you can use in the program is unlimited. Or it’s limited to 500. It all depends on what you read.
I’m close to finishing a new video piece, and After Effects is upset about the number of layers I’m using. Currently I have 456, but within the next few weeks, I’ll probably add at least 100 more.

Of course within those 456 layers are other compositions that have plenty of layers themselves, and this act of nesting also helps complicate things.
Anyway, the new piece should be done for Pulse Miami. Parts of it are already on the internet, but you’ll never find the site they’re hosted on. In fact, I have a few projects in progress and post the work as it gets completed to various sites / domains that I own , but no one has ever found those either. It’s a game I like to play. I’m winning.
Art in an Age of Uncertainty.
Opens tonight. Up until 12-14
